Anthony Aird
Designer
Hi. My name is Anthony. I have been the lead Graphic Designer at Your Workplace magazine for the last five years. It has been a crazy experience, certainly filled with a lot of excitement. We are a fast moving company and we pay attention to the details. I have learned a lot about workplace conflict, resolution, and motivation, much of which is echoed in the articles in our magazine. I bring life to work every day and expect it to bring me life too… and it does.

Every day is a new day; a virgin canvas awaiting paint. I am the artist, the creator of the day unfolding before me. When I created Your Workplace, I created an environment where every person working with me would know that the day s/he created was totally within his/her control. What an awesome, uplifting feeling to be empowered this way. It is also frightening for many. If you have a day which you deem to be lousy, or a day that did not produce the results you wanted, you cannot use blame. Just ask yourself, “Why did I create my day this way?” and then ponder how you will paint your canvas tomorrow. |

A workplace that respects work-life balance, creativity, individual ideas and teamwork—it all sounds like an employee’s dream! Fortunately, companies in Canada are coming closer to realizing that not only can employees be happier in a positive workplace, but that there are long-term benefits to this as well, in terms of retention and productivity. Your Workplace hopped on this bandwagon nearly a decade ago, and I have been happy to be a part of this team and returned to Your Workplace as Associate Editor – Print and Online earlier this year. Laughter can be a healthy thing—especially when it’s part of the busy workday! |

Your Workplace is a fabulous and unique opportunity to share best practices and new ideas that enrich our lives personally and professionally. As more and more organizations recognize the whole individual as a positive contributor, moving towards greater acknowledgment of the person, and not just the “worker”, we are seeing an overdue shift in workplace cultures. YW is a valiant champion of the new organizational environment, the new leadership shift and the new employee mindset. YW‘s mandate and mission inspire me to continue to contribute to this amazing publication. |

When I first started working at Your Workplace, I knew that I was not embarking on just another job… I was embarking on a lifestyle that would provide positive affirmation to my whole self in and out of the office. Being part of a supportive community is what brings life to my work. The more people we can get involved in our healthy community, the stronger and more profound we can make it. , in all its forms, is a powerful tool that we all can use everyday to help us on this wild ride called life. I am thrilled to be a part of it. |
