Anthony Aird
Senior Designer

Hi. My name is Anthony. I have been the lead Graphic Designer at Your Workplace magazine for the last five years. It has been a crazy experience, certainly filled with a lot of excitement. We are a fast moving company and we pay attention to the details. I have learned a lot about workplace conflict, resolution, and motivation, much of which is echoed in the articles in our magazine. I bring life to work every day and expect it to bring me life too... and it does.

Vera Asanin
President & CEO

Every day is a new day; a virgin canvas awaiting paint. I am the artist, the creator of the day unfolding before me. When I created Your Workplace, I created an environment where every person working with me would know that the day s/he created was totally within his/her control. What an awesome, uplifting feeling to be empowered this way. It is also frightening for many. If you have a day which you deem to be lousy, or a day that did not produce the results you wanted, you cannot use blame. Just ask yourself, "Why did I create my day this way?" and then ponder how you will paint your canvas tomorrow. ƒ

From the moment I joined the YW team I felt that I was contributing to a vibrant, important endeavour. Our fearless leader has assembled an upbeat group of talent to bring to life her message for the positive future of workplaces all over the country. I am proud to be working with these talented people to help everyone achieve the working environment that we enjoy.

The average person spends over 100,000 hours of their lifetime working: That’s 6 million minutes or 200,000 Seinfeld re-runs. This statistic can be a scary one, but since coming to Your Workplace, it excites me! Who wouldn't be excited about spending a ton of time meeting and working with amazing people while following your passion and recognizing the success of leading-edge organizations? At Your Workplace I have the opportunity to continuously learn how to make today better than yesterday. My hope is that you too can find your passion and excitement in life and work. It’s so much better than a re-run!

A workplace that respects work-life balance, creativity, individual ideas and teamwork—it all sounds like an employee’s dream! Fortunately, companies in Canada are coming closer to realizing that not only can employees be happier in a positive workplace, but that there are long-term benefits to this as well, in terms of retention and productivity. Your Workplace hopped on this bandwagon nearly a decade ago, and I have been happy to be a part of this team when I joined five years ago, as both an editor and writer for the publication. Laughter can be a healthy thing—especially when it’s part of the busy workday!

Associate Editor

Your Workplace is a fabulous and unique opportunity to share best practices and new ideas that enrich our lives personally and professionally. As more and more organizations recognize the whole individual as a positive contributor, moving towards greater acknowledgment of the person, and not just the "worker", we are seeing an overdue shift in workplace cultures. YW is a valiant champion of the new organizational environment, the new leadership shift and the new employee mindset. YW's mandate and mission inspire me to continue to contribute to this amazing publication.

Your Workplace is all about helping people thrive at work. We forget sometimes that it’s people who make up our workplaces – and people have competing needs in our fast-paced world. Life-Work balance is not only something I write about, it’s something I live every day. (When I’m not at Your Workplace you could find me teaching at a local college, training for my next road race, taxiing one of my children to their next appointment or sporting event or squeezing in something called ‘date night’). It’s a gift to be part of an organization which focuses on these key issues – and on finding real solutions.
