Top Workplaces Where Employees Thrive 2010 award
winners honoured
KINGSTON, Ontario – The latest issue of Your
Workplace magazine hits the streets this week honouring the Top Workplaces Where Employees
Thrive.
The Thrive awards recognize organizations that have established dynamic and creative workplaces with a
culture built on collaborative dialogue, trust, shared outcomes, tolerance, and teamwork.
Launched last year, the award is sponsored by Your Workplace, publisher of Canada’s leading national
magazine dedicated to assisting progressive organizations in building and sustaining cultures where employees
thrive.
Four companies were honoured this year with the award, presented at a gala awards dinner at the International
Centre in Toronto. A fifth company received an honourable mention.

“These organizations create environments where workers feel their input and effort is valued and respected,”
says Your Workplace president and CEO Vera Asanin.
“These are places where contributions to improving workplace culture are motivated by leadership and
management with input from personnel at every level,” she adds.
Your Workplace columnist Dr. Sandy Cotton provided the inspiration for the Thrive awards in a 2008
column which explored “The 10 Principles for a Healthy Workplace.”
For 2010, 21 companies were nominated as Workplaces Where Employees Thrive; 18 of
these met the minimum criteria to be short-listed. Those 18 were invited to have their employees complete an
on-line survey measuring employee engagement, administered by TalentMap. From these, the winners were
determined by the judges based on overall results from nomination letters, letters of reference, and employee
responses to the survey.
