Bridging the Talent Gap

As we move further into a new century and as our economy becomes increasingly globalized, Canada’s major companies are struggling to find all the good people they need. In Canada we face a double challenge because of two factors: the baby boom retirement and reduced birth rates.

Our birth rate has been falling as long as we can remember and Statistics Canada has reported that the birth rate in Canada has dropped 25.4% in the last 10 years alone. Today according to the United Nations, Canada ranks #186 in the world in birth rates out of 225 countries ranked, about 25% behind the United States and nearly half of the birth rate of the emerging economies of India and Brazil.
