In 1996 the lowest amount of basic salary of a Canadian CEO was only $110,000 – still more than three times the average earnings of average Canadian employees. However, the lowest amount of total compensation among 100 executives was $712,000.

Today, ten million or more is the gold standard for CEO’s and the average is nearly four million a year in compensation.
