How does a person stay energetic in a typical day?

I have one friend who eats healthy (veggies, tofu, salads) during the day, then hits the gym for a good hour’s work-out after work. Then he typically calls me on his cell phone and, all wiry, asks me to meet him at a local pub for a beer and a burger. After that, who knows where the night might lead?

I have another friend who works on a computer most days and nights and when he stands to get another Diet Coke, only then, when he feels slightly faint, remembers that he should eat something. And it’s always something quickly made such as a burger and fries or pizza. He’s always yawning and mopey. For him, a trip to the corner store seems like a trek to Nepal.
