Personality Testing at Work

There’s no escaping workplace testing – whether for a job or a promotion.

It’s amazing how far civilization has come in a few short millennia. Forget computers and space travel for a minute. Even the way we think has undergone an amazing evolution. As recently as the 15th century, people still believed the sun revolved around the earth. Can you imagine what the world would be like if we still believed that were true? And what about those silly elements and humours?

In ancient times, it was a commonly accepted fact that everything could be reduced to four basic elements: earth, water, fire and air. Even human beings weren’t exempt from the process. In the 5th Century B.C., the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates determined that the human body consists of four humours that mirror the four elements, and that each humour represents a specific temperament: The yellow bile found in the kidneys signaled a melancholy disposition.
