Atlas Shrugged

Time to release the weight from your shoulders

I have never read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, even though her books lined the bookshelves of my university comrades back in the early seventies. One look at her thick tomes was enough to intimidate me.

Recently, I have been drawn back to her work, more by the title and the metaphorical image this created of the Greek God Atlas shrugging the world off his shoulders. This image came to me in the early morning, breaking into my dream world, as I tried to understand why I felt so much responsibility for so many things and so many people when it was clear it this was not my responsibility. I was the beginning of a release process.
