Five-year study shows reduced medical claims, increased productivity

Companies increasingly seek to curb health care costs through an employee wellness program, but experts say it is not always clear whether the programs work or save money.

To find out, Regence Finance, a health insurer in the U.S., and Human Resource departments from enterprises based in the U.S. partnered for a hard look at the health insurer’s award-winning employee wellness program. The results showed that, even with rigorous accounting for direct program costs, there were medical savings and improved productivity, as well as a positive Return on Investment (ROI).
