Kaitland knew how to laugh. We went to school together and managed to stay in touch over the years—if not a cheerful phone call, it was an email missive. She knew how to have a really good time no matter what life threw at her. I remember the times when I was down about one thing or frustrated about another. I could always rely on the optimism and positive attitude of my friend Kaitland to pull me up.
