Yes or No to Take Your Parents to Work Day?

When we heard LinkedIn was pulling a Freaky Friday and turning the annual Take Our Kids to Work Day program upside down so employees would bring their parents instead, we all became confused. But there it was on the website. On November 7, 2013 the world’s biggest social media employment network will be promoting their “LinkedIn’s Bring in Your Parents Day” worldwide. It seems the Take Your Parents to Work Day fad is popular with online businesses. Google welcomed 2,000 employees’ parents to its headquarters in May, 2013 for its second such event.

However, LinkedIn wanted the older folks to show up for just the last hour or two of the workday so as not to be too “disruptive,” according to the website. I chuckled to myself. “Who would want sullen, middle-aged professionals or greying retirees making mischief in front of their kids’ bosses all day”, I thought.

I did not hear anyone entering my home-office while writing this at my desk. Suddenly I feel my ear being tugged.

Make. Work. Better.
