Many years ago, when computers only fit on top of desks instead of inside pockets, most employees completed team projects in places called “conference rooms”. In these rooms, team members would spread out sheets of project diagrams on a table, write sloppy notes on whiteboards and miss out on parts of the discussion when they had to leave for other meetings (or just to grab another cup of coffee). It was confusing and cumbersome, and yet somehow, it produced some pretty impressive final results.
Things have changed a great deal since the dawn of the first smartphone. Today you can collaborate with team members without leaving your desk, and your teammate’s desk doesn’t even have to be in the same office building. In fact, it doesn’t even have to be on the same continent.
Technology has effectively bridged the distance barrier. Here are a few great project apps that replace the old fashioned face-to-face group project functions and, in most cases, kick them up a notch or two.
