Is There Hope in the Year 2255?

The plot may read as a really bad B-movie. Or is it reality that women are still far underpaid compared to men?

The year is 2255. The fallout from climate change has been devastating. Two-thirds of the Earth is nearly uninhabitable. What remains of human civilization are but a few highly concentrated settlements far to the north and south. Work has reverted back to subsistence efforts. Most people find employment in underground agriculture, where employment is laborious and pay is limited.

Yet, despite the harsh realities of life, one ray of hope has transformed into progress. For, after centuries of struggle, the gender pay gap has at long last been eliminated, and women’s earnings are finally on par with men. Hurrah!
