A reviewer shares her secrets about how to get the most from a book
I have been reviewing books for Your Workplace for several years now, but I have been an avid book reader for decades. You may be like me—someone who buys books just to have them. I buy books like other women buy shoes—for the look, feel and stylishness. If I only read a book once, I feel like I have gotten value out of it. Even if I only reference one chapter in something that I am creating, that purchase was worthwhile.
It’s useful for every reader to take a look back at what they have read to help determine which book to pick up next. You may choose to revisit a favourite, much like an old friend. Or, you may realize that the arc of knowledge has moved forward and new information should be pursued.
