A Measure of Mindfulness

People can overcome anxiety and learn to enjoy life again

Human beings can experience two opposite emotions at the same time. A person can be grieving, or angry, or experience mental health difficulties in their day-to-day life, yet still truthfully say they love their job. Yet, general feelings of happiness and security, and personal perceptions of well-being, have a direct impact on the ability of individuals to love their job.

Anxiety has a detrimental impact on many Canadians. About 12% of all Canadians are affected by an anxiety disorder every year and those range from general or social anxiety to panic disorders and obsessive compulsive disorders. At first glance, anxiety can be difficult to see within ourselves or in co-workers and employees. The initial effects of anxiety disorder can be subtle, but if left untreated, anxiety can have profound negative consequences for sufferers.
