Could Standing Desks be Bad for You?

Better sit down to read this one. Now that you’ve had time to obsessively absorb and fret about all the research that tells us sitting all day at work is horrible for your health, even newer research says we can all chill out and collapse with relief in our swivel chairs.

A study published in the International Journal of Epidemiology (2015) suggests that you can, in fact, sit all day with fiendish glee and you’ll be just as well off as that health-conscious colleague with the standing desk. It seems the problem isn’t being seated, but rather being stubbornly stationary, which can happen whilst standing as well. Hence, it’s not sitting you need to worry about, but the fact of never shifting or changing position at your desk.
