Kinesiology is the science of human movement. It focuses on how the body functions and moves. Kinesiologists are human movement specialists and work in many sectors including workplaces, where much of their work is in the areas of rehabilitation, ergonomics and wellness. A kinesiological approach applies the latest evidence-based principles to preserve and enhance human movement in all settings and populations.

Kinesiologists provide on-site rehabilitation to keep employees at work and help them return to their regular duties quickly and safely, complementing any existing disability management program. According to a study conducted by the Institute for Work and Health, on-site services return workers in half the time compared to the usual off-site services. The study concluded that “those in the program group were back at work a median of 77 days after the first day of sick leave, compared with 104 days for those receiving usual care.”
