Coaching is an iterative process. Although there are frameworks to follow, the actual conversation is rarely linear. Eventually, however, the goal of a coaching session is for the client to leave the room with an action plan. It might be something that the client will do differently, it might be something that the client will look out for, it might be something that the client will ponder — but there should be some sort of action stemming from a coaching session.
In the following session, one of my first questions will be “How did that go?” and the client will articulate his or her results achieved. Then we move forward with insights, learning, reflection and a new action plan to help the client progress towards desired goals.
