Independence Day for the Workplace?

On the July 4th U. S. Independence Day, the Harvard Business Review published an insightful blog entitled “Declaring Independence in the Workplace”.

They refer to examples where managers had given an employee “entrepreneurial responsibility”, but upper managers kept all the important decisions for themselves. The Harvard faculty state that for employees to stay motivated and have a sense of achievement, they need to have a say in their work. This freedom or independence in turn makes them more creative.
