Listen Deeply to the Grumbling

I’ve been reading a great book about leadership recommended by a friend who shares my interest in healthy organizations, although unfortunately she has had too much experience in recent years with the toxic variety. The authors are two business school professors, actually a father and son duo, Craig and Oliver Galbraith. Their book is called The Benedictine Rule of Leadership (Adams Media, 2004). And as the title suggests, it explores the continuing usefulness of leadership ideas contained in the 6th Century classic Rule of St Benedict written by the founder of the Benedictine monastic movement that has endured and prospered since that time. The cover suggests that the authors believe Benedict’s guidelines constitute “Classic Management Secrets You Can Use Today”.
