National “Work-From Home Day”

Due to the personal, economic and environmental benefits of telecommuting, it’s time to have a national “Work-From-Home Day”, according to Your Workplace readers who voted 65% in favour, according to our online poll.

Results from a Workopolis survey found the average respondent spent a combined 42 minutes commuting each day and $269 each month on associated costs working away from home, with the largest cost being transportation at $146 per month. That’s the equivalent of 182 hours each year and a cost of more than $3,000.
