People are job-hopping more frequently than they used to, and “flight risk” is a term used to describe the outpouring of talent. In particular Generation Ys or Millennial employees (those up to age 29) are moving more frequently. “When the Baby Boomers were in their 20s they moved less than half as many times than the Millennials are moving now,” says Linda Schweitzer, Assistant Dean of MBA Programs at the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University in Ottawa.
Yet Millennials are just as likely to move inside an organization as outside, Schweitzer points out. “They are not looking for outside opportunities versus inside any more than Millennials or Baby Boomers did.”
