Seed & Spice Blend

– Ingredients-

1 cup sunflower seeds
1 cup sesame seeds
¼ cup nutritional yeast
1 tbsp chili powder
1½ tbsp ground cumin
2 tbsp onion granules

– Directions –

Step 1: Toast the seeds

  1. Bring a frying pan to medium-high heat. Add the sunflower and sesame seeds.
  2. Toss gently until the seeds begin to pop and become aromatic. They should acquire a golden colour.

Step 2: Add the seasonings

  1. Turn off the heat and while the pan is still hot, add the nutritional yeast and spices. Toss well.
  2. Allow the mixture to cool and place in a sealed container.

Step 3: Use

  1. Sprinkle on salads, especially the grocery store varieties that you may buy for your lunch at work. Add to grains and beans. Great on popcorn, and a lot less sodium.
  2. Try other spice combinations according to your preference.
  3. Note the combinations that work well, and bottle them for terrific host or holiday gifts.
  4. Serves 2 cups.
