Should you, or shouldn’t you? The pros and cons of BYOD

It seems like a great idea, but is the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend all it’s cracked up to be?

In theory, employees go out and purchase a smartphone or computer usually with some type of subsidy from their employer and use that device to access their company’s network and email system. The thought is that giving employees a chance to use their preferred devices and operating systems will boost productivity and job satisfaction while reducing costs for employers, who no longer have to supply and maintain all of that technology. But there are pitfalls to BYOD.
